Why take the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher course?

In order to continue to operate in the City of New York, the designated construction worker is required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training and to carry site safety identification cards as proof of completion of the training (As per New York City Local Law 196 of 2017 also known as 'LL196' or 'Local Law'). This course provides four hours towards the satisfaction of that requirement.

Scaffold-related incidents are among the most common causes of injury and death on construction sites. This four-hour course provides essential training on the safe use of supported scaffolds, including frame scaffolds, system scaffolds, and tube-and-coupler scaffolds. Workers will learn proper scaffold access, load capacity awareness, fall protection requirements, and hazard recognition. This course satisfies the NYC DOB supported scaffold user training requirement for the SST card.

Training Requirements

• 100% attendance of the online class is mandatory
• Complying with the facial biometric requirement for monitoring attendance
• Achieve a minimum of 70% in the written assessment at the end of the course
• Completion of Evaluation Form at the end of the course

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be:

• Able to identify different types of supported scaffold systems and their components
• Knowledgeable about scaffold load capacities and weight limitations
• Familiar with proper scaffold access methods and fall protection requirements
• Able to perform visual inspections of scaffolds before each use
• Aware of OSHA 29 CFR 1926.450-454 and NYC-specific scaffold regulations
