Why take the Fall Prevention course?

In order to continue to operate in the City of New York, the designated construction worker is required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training and to carry site safety identification cards as proof of completion of the training (as per New York City Local Law 196 of 2017, also known as 'LL196' or 'Local Law'). This course counts toward the site safety training hours required under LL196.

Falls are the leading cause of death in construction. This eight-hour course provides comprehensive fall prevention training, covering fall hazards, protective systems, and the correct selection, use, and inspection of fall protection equipment.

Training Requirements

• 100% attendance of the online class is mandatory
• Complying with the facial biometric requirement for monitoring attendance
• Achieve a minimum of 70% in the written assessment at the end of the course
• Completion of Evaluation Form at the end of the course

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

• Identify fall hazards on construction sites
• Apply the hierarchy of fall protection (elimination, guarding, restraint, arrest)
• Select and use guardrails, nets, and personal fall arrest systems correctly
• Inspect harnesses, lanyards, and anchorages and ensure adequate clearance
• Plan for prompt rescue and respond to a fall emergency
